A Spectral Decomposition

This piece is inspired by the Fourier transform. The violin performance represents a signal in the time domain. I applied a Fourier transform to the character’s silhouette, approximating its contour with a series of epicycles. The most complex cluster of epicycles appears at the point where the bow meets the string, representing the region where the signal changes most rapidly.
